I made an instrument that rubs two speakers together. This makes the volume of a humming sound go up and down. The vibration makes a human-like shape shake.
When we hear a shaking voice, we often try to guess the person’s feelings just from their voice. This artwork shows how strange it is to try to read someone’s mind in this one-sided way.
This piece invites two people to search together for a spot where the radio signal comes through. 1. Choose either the ear-shaped antenna or a pair of headphones. 2. Tilt the antenna or climb higher — the reception will change. 3. Listen carefully. Catch the faint signals and sounds of the radio.

This is an ongoing project where the artist builds and tests handmade, batteryless radios in various outdoor environments.
Begun in 2021, the artist documents how radio signals change based on weather, time, and location.
Named “Germanium Radio Exercises,” this daily routine serves as a lifelong habit that helps the artist design new radios, stay healthy, and find a meaningful reason to go outside in solitude.
